An early national-period courthouse that has been greatly expanded over the years. The earliest portion built in 1803 stands at the rear. The builder was John Jordan of Lexington. The portico and the front portion were added in the late 1850s.

History park depicting the transportation history of Scottsville from the era of the Native American Monacan canoes to modern transportation systems. Emphasis is on the rich history of the batteaux and packet boat travel which occurred in the heyday of America's rivers and canals. The park is located at the original site of the James River and Kanawha Canal Basin at 249 Main Street across from the Scottsville Museum. Self guided tours year around. Guided tours and school field trips by appointment.
Confederate War Memorial Monument and Cemetery - Confederate Street - Scottsville, VA - (434) 286-2112
Erected by the United Daughters of the Confederacy in 1914, the monument is a marble obelisk with crossed sabres on each side and an inscription on the face.
The inscription reads "OUR CONFEDERATE DEAD WHO DIED IN THE HOSPITALS OF SCOTTSVILLE 1861-1865"
Grace Episcopal Church - 5607 Gordonsville Road - Keswick, VA - (434) 293-3549
Grace Church is one of six "colonial" churches in Virginia; this means it was founded when Virginia was still a colony under the dominion of the King of England... founded over 200 years ago and has held services consistently ever since.
The original church was constructed in 1745. The second building was built between 1846-1854, and consecrated in 1855. Forty years later, the church burned. The present church was rebuilt and consecrated in 1896.
Hatton Ferry - 10082 Hatton Ferry Road - Scottsville, VA - (434) 296-1492
Hatton Ferry, one of only two poled ferries still operating in the United States, runs on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 9:00am to 5:00pm Apr.15 through Oct.15. A ride on the ferry is a unique opportunity to experience times past; ferries served Albemarle County from the mid-eighteenth century to the mid-nineteenth century, and provided a means by which European settlers could communicate with other settlers and establish commercial ventures. Hatton Ferry is jointly maintained and operated by the Albemarle County Historical Society, the County of Albemarle, and the Virginia Department of Transportation. A small exhibit explores the history of the ferry, and visitors may ride across the river at no charge if water levels permit. Hatton Ferry is located in southern Albemarle, a few miles outside of Scottsville on Route 625.

No other home in the United States more accurately reflects the personality of its owner than Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's architectural masterpiece and beloved mountaintop home. The Monticello Visitors Center features "Thomas Jefferson at Monticello," an exhibition of Jefferson memorabilia, artifacts discovered during archaeological excavations, and architectural models and drawings. Also on site are a Monticello Museum Shop and the Charlottesville/Albemarle Convention and Visitors Bureau. No admission

The artists of Mud Dauber Pottery welcome visitors to their studio and gallery in a renovated 1890s barn in the center of historic Earlysville. Home to Suzanne Crane, a nationally known maker of fine hand-crafted botanical stoneware, the studio features a number of local potters who also create their work on site and in view of visitors to the gallery. A great stop for gifts from the Piedmont, Mud Dauber's gallery features a wide variety of stoneware vessels, teapots, dinnerware, tiles, sinks, and other handcrafted items such as jewelry, scarves, and ornaments.

The Scottsville Museum preserves the heritage of Scottsville, Virginia, an historic James River town. Originally called Scott's Landing, the town became the first county seat for Albemarle County in 1744. Scottsville was incorporated in 1818 at the northern most flow of the James River, an area known as Horseshoe Bend. The town's history closely links to the James River, serving first as a port for bateaux transportation and then as the terminus of the Staunton and James River Turnpike, which connected the James River with the Valley of Virginia. Later Scottsville became a center of Civil War activity. Housed inside the former Disciples of Christ Church, built in 1846, the Museum displays exhibits on James River transportation, the Civil War, Native American artifacts, town life, old photographs, and more.

Historic St. Anne's Parish was founded as a Church of England Parish in 1745. During the pre-revolutionary war period, this parish was the center of sacred and secular life in Albemarle County. The original parish church was "The Ballenger Church" near Howardsville. North Garden Church, Forge Church and Broken Backt Church near Parmyra followed. Our most famous parishioner of the Colonial Period was Thomas Jefferson.

The Inn is a charming clapboard home built by Hessian soldiers who were captured during the Revolutionary War at the battle of Saratoga, NY., and marched south to Charlottesville. They built a two-story log cabin on the site of the former Indian settlement and this section of the house is now known as our Hessian Room. The center part of the Inn was built in 1812 and served for a period of time as a boys school. In the latter part of the 19th Century, the property passed through several hands, serving as a tobacco plantation and, after the Civil War, as a melon farm. In 1937, the final wing of the Inn was added by B.F.D. Runk, a former Dean of the University of Virginia.
