If you're wild about New Hampshire wildlife, this is the place to visit! From bears to bobcats, owls to otters,
fishers to foxes, this 200-acre natural science center provides everyone with an opportunity to see wildlife close
up and learn about their habitats. The Science Center's mission is to advance understanding of ecology by exploring
New Hampshire's natural world.
Explore Squam Lakes with Science Center Lake Cruises, 90 minute guided pontoon boat tours. Observe loon behavior
and communication first hand. During our fall foliage season, experience Squam’s dazzling array of colors.
Take a walk in our woods and you will see black bear, bobcats, otters, raptors, mountain lions and more in
trailside enclosures. Our exhibits feature live animals in natural settings with plenty of hands-on activities
designed for explorers of all ages. Climb into a simulated bear den or go down the otter slide and experience
being a part of an animal's natural habitat.
Observe bald eagles, hawks and owls at our Raptor Exhibit. Don't miss the Bird Aviary, host to a variety of
songbirds to delight any bird enthusiast. Take a stroll through Kirkwood Gardens on the grounds of the historic
Holderness Inn. The gardens feature New England plantings designed to attract birds and butterflies.
The center also features four self-guided trails, Gordon Children's Activity Center, live animal presentations
during July and August, and The Howling Coyote featuring gifts with nature and education in mind.
The SQUAM LAKES NATURAL SCIENCE CENTER is on Route 113 in Holderness, NH 03245. The Center is located 4 miles
off exit 24 off Interstate 93. Open daily, 9:30 am —4:30 pm. May 1—November 1. Last admission to trail at 3:30.
