Within the City Limits - Top
  • Gallagator Linear
    An abandoned railroad right of way that begins at the corner of East Story and South Church. The Trail continues to South 3rd and Kagy, circles around the museum of the Rockies and terminates at Sacajewea Middle School. Running, sking, biking and walking trail. Interpretative signs.

  • Sourdough Trail
    Goldenstein to Garfield. Entrance off Garfield by Sylvan Condominiums. Walking, running and Biking Trails

  • Painted Hills
    South on South Church Street, left on Kagy, past Highland Boulevard for 0.7 mile. Turn right into small parking area. Trail crosses two roads and several small creeks. 2.5 mile round trip

  • Triple Tree Trail
    Go south on Church, cross Kagy, at which point South Church becomes Sourdough. Continue south past Goldenstein Lane and the Old water tower until you come to the Triple Tree Development. Go several hundred feet past the turnoff until you reach a small parking lot on the left. Park and follow the staked trails up the ridge.

  • Highland Ridge Trail
    East Story and Church. Climb up Peets Hill and go Right. Can either continue south to Kagy or head east to Highland

  • East Gallatin Park
    Eastern part of the East Gallatin Recreation Area north of Griffin Drive. Trail connects with fishing access of the river. Cross Country Skiing in Winter

  • Hyalite Canyon
    Located south of Bozeman, Hyalite Canyon is reached by taking south 19th Ave. 7 Miles to Hyalite Canyon Road. The 34,000 acre drainage includes many recreatonal opportunities. During the late 1980s the Gallatin Empire Lions Club and the Gallatin National Forest sponsored a program called the Hyalite Challenge. This program has opened up recreation opportunities in this spectacular area to more people by providing facilities that are accesible to individuals with disabilities.
Bridger Range - Top
  • Foothills Trail
    Length: 20. 8 Miles
    Trail begins: 4960' elevation "M" trailhead at the south end of the Bridger Range.
    Trail Ends: 7600, elevation, Fairy Lake Campground.
    Access: From Bozeman city limits, take Montana Highway 86 ( Bridger Canyon Road ) for approximately 4 miles to the "M" Trailhead. The parking area is located across the highway from the Federal Fish Hatchery

  • Fairy Lake Campground, Sacajawea Peak Trail
    Length: 2 miles
    Trail begins: 7600' elevation at Fairy Lake Campground
    Trail Ends: 9665, elevation, Sacajawea Peak
    Access: From Bozeman city limits, MT Highway 86 (Bridger Canyon Road) for approximately 24 miles to Forest Road #74 ( a primitive road ) Turn Left and continue 7 miles to Fairy Lake Campground. The trail begins at the Campground
Gallatin Range - Top
  • Hidden Lake Trail
    Length: 3 Miles
    Trail begins: 7040' elevation, at trailhead end of Hidden Lake Road
    Access: Follow US highway 191 south of Bozeman for 38.6 miles to Portal Creek Road. Turn east on Portal Creek Road and continue southeast for 3.3 miles to the Junction of Hidden Lake Road. The trailhead is 2.6 miles southwest on Hidden Lake Road.

  • Golden Trout Lakes Trail
    Length: 2.5 miles
    Trail begins: 8000' elevation at trailhead at the end of Portal Creek Road.
    Trail Ends: 9200, elevation, Golden Trout Lakes
    Access: Follow US Highway 191 south of Bozeman for 38.6 miles to Portal Creek Road. Turn east on Portal Creek Road and continue southeast for 6 miles to the trailhead

  • Garnet Mountain Lookout Trail
    Length: 4 miles
    Trail begins: 5440' elevation along Squaw Creek Road
    Trail Ends: 8245, elevation, at Garnet Mountain lookout
    Access: Follow US Highway 191 south of Bozeman for 25 miles to Squaw Creek. Follow Squaw Creek Road south for approximately 1.5 miles to the trailhead.
