AFTON STATE PARK
18 mile trail
Afton, MN

Hike along the lower St. Croix National Scenic Riverway. Scenery includes wooded bluffs, prairies, and wooded ravines along hillsides and meadows.

Difficulties range - Variety of levels
Camping available.
ANGLEWOOD TRAIL
14 mile trail
Ely, MN

Loop around Anglewood, Home & Whiskey Jack Lakes.
Off Echo Trail/County Route 116. 
Be sure to bring your camera, features scenic overlooks and stands of White & Red Pines.

Difficulties range - Rugged terrains & high rock ridges
Camping limited to 9 designated sites
BANNING STATE PARK
15 mile trail
Sandsone, MN

Hike along designated wild and scenic sections of Kettle River, that run though the historic ruins of the Banning quarry.
Self Guided tour of the Banning Quarry trail along the quarry railroad grade.
Trails vary in lengh with loops and cutoffs. Wooded areas with numerous scenic vistas

BASS LAKE TRAIL
12 mile trail
Ely, MN

Off Echo Trail/County Route 116 in the Superior National Forest. 
Well Marked trail going around Bass Lake and various ecological zones, including old Lake bottoms.

BEAR HEAD LAKE STATE PARK
17 mile trail
Soudan, MN

Hike through scenic northwoods setting with rolling forested hills. Series of Marked trails with loops and cutoffs circling several remote lakes.Trail intersects the Taconite State Trail 
(see below) While hiking you may see a Timber wolf or a Bear.

BLUE MOUNDS STATE PARK
10 mile trail
Luverne, MN

Trails offer an opportunity to view Minnesota's prairie environment, including herds of grazing Buffalo.
Trail passes through a unique outcropping of Sioux quartzite.

BORDER ROUTE TRAIL
40 mile trail
Grand Marais, MN

Off the Gunflint Trail, parallels the canoe routes of the Indians and Voyagers in the Boundry Water Canoe Area (BWCA)
Wilderness and ends at The Arrowhead Trail. Hike along high cliffs with views of  forests and lakes. Wildlife include Deer, Moose, Wolves & Loons.

Difficulties range - Rugged trail for experienced hikers.
Camping only allowed with BWCA Wilderness permit

BUFFALO RIVER STATE PARK
12 mile trail
Glyndon, MN

Hike along the Buffalo River and into the vast expanse of one of Minnesota's largest remaining virgin prairies. Savanna Cutoff InterpretiveTerrain.

CAMDEN STATE PARK
9 mile trail
Lynd, MN

Trail loops across open prairie and travels on through the wooded valley of the Redwood River. Scenic vistas and Historic sites highlite the trail.
Interpretive center and Self Guided trail.

CAMP RABIDEAU CCC TRAIL
1 mile trail
Blackduck, MN

Short trail going through Camp rabideau in the Chippewa National Forest. 
Interpretive displays show the history of the area and buildings. Picnic area.

CASCADE RIVER STATE PARK
15 mile trail
Grand Marais, MN

Hike along both sides of the Cascade River Gorge, (Lake Superior Shoreline)
and up to Lookout and Moose Mountains. Great Panoramic View of Lake Superior, Sawtooth Mountains and the River Gorge.

CRUISER LAKE TRAIL
9 mile trail
Voyageurs National Park

Accessible by water only, on the northeastern edge of Lost Bay on Kabetogama Lake. Trail crosses Kabetogama Peninsula to Anderson Bay on Rainy Lake. There are seven Lakes along the trail and connecting points include Cruiser Lake at the midway point. Scenic overlooks, granite outcroppings, and a wide variety of Plant and Wildlife.

CUT FOOT SIOUX TRAIL
22 mile trail
Deer River, MN

Hike along several offshoots along the continental divide. Starts at Cut Foot Sioux visitor information center in Chippewa National Forest. Passes through Hardwood and Pine Forests into hilly area with small Lakes. Connects with Simpson Creek Trail, a 13 mile trail system through large Pine forest on the Peninsula of Lake Winnebigoshish.
Be on the lookout for Osprey, Eagles and Loons. Fishing and Berry picking in the area.

DOUGLAS STATE TRAIL
12.5 mile trail
Rochester, MN

Developed on an abandoned railroad grade, going through rural scenery and farmland. Trail begins in Northwest Rochester and travels through Douglas onto Pine Island.

Grand Marais, MN

Trail starts at the Junction of Forest Roads 153 & 158 in the Superior National Forest, extending North to Eagle Mountain - the highest point in Minnesota at 2301 feet/701 Meters. 
Rolling terrain through Birch, spruce and Fir Forests with Plank walks over Boggy Areas. Scenic Views of Forests and Lakes including Lake Superior.
Trail Continues on to Brule Lake

FORESTVILLE STATE PARK

Preston, MN

Wander through the hardwood forests and steep ravines of the Root River Valley. Wide variety of trails in a Stream dissected terrain, with springs, caves and underground rivers, shared with Horseback riders.

Trails Pass over rolling prairies and wooded ravines of the Minnesota River Valley. Travels through the site of the Dakota Conflict of 1862, features historic building and Museum.

Hiking trails provide scenic routes along the Manitou River waterfalls, Lake Superior and through the Yellow Birch Forest.

Starting at the parking lot the trail loops through high hills, and Glacial ridges surrounding Signalness Lake (also know as Mountain Lake) including Panoramic Views. Vegetation ranges from virgin prairies to Oak Forest.

Starting in the Monument Area
(see Historic Sites) the trail follows historic portage of Fur Traders to Fort Charlotte, ending at the Cascades Waterfall.

HAY CREEK TRAILS
17 mile trail
Red Wing, MN

Trail passes through Richard J. Dorer Memorial Hardwood State Forest. Dense hardwood forest with views of sparsely developed Valley. Wildlife includes Wild Turkey, Fishing in Hay Creek might catch you some Trout. Picnic Area

 HAYES LAKE STATE PARK
11 mile trail
Roseau, MN

Starting at the parking area, Trails loop around Lake and Roseau River into the Pristine northwoods setting. Scenic views, abundant wildlife including Heron, Grebe and less common waterbirds.

HEARTLAND STATE TRAIL
50 mile trail
Park Rapids, MN

Two Segments developed on Old railroad grades.
First segment starts at State Route 34 in Park Rapids, ending at County Rd. 34 In Walker.
2nd Segment starts .5 miles south of Kabedona Bay Bridge, ending 2 Miles south of Cass Lake, Scenery includes, Farmland, Lakes, Wetlands and Woods.
Located in the Paul Bunyan State Forest.

HELMER MYRE STATE PARK

Albert Lea, MN

Three self Guided Trails. Glacial evidence through out the Park in the the Prairie pothole region. Gathering ground for 1000's of White Pelicans during the spring & fall.

Trail starts off County Rd. 424 into Superior National Forest. Short and long trails, Major trails lead to Dovre or Little Vermilion Lakes or South along the Echo River. Difficult climb to the scenic ridgetop overlooking Baylis Lake.

Isabella, MN

Trail starts at the parking lot offering a variety of difficulties levels. The park contains the headwaters of the Mississippi River, with 30,223 acres of lakes and virgin pine forests. Terrain contains some steep hills, and a view of the forest from a fire tower.

JAY COOKE STATE PARK
50 mile trail
Esko, MN

Extensive trails for both the experienced and beginners. Trails cross rugged and spectacular terriansin Hardwood and Pine Forests. Follow the St Louis river through a picturesque gorge. Cross over a suspended swinging bridge, and historic St. Louis River Portage. Several Scenic vistas.

Start off County Rd. 81 into the Richard J. Dorer Memorial Hardwood Forest. Trail loops through steep rugged  hardwood forests with excellent views of the Zumbro River Valley. 3/4 of handicap access nature trail.
