    Huntersville State Forest

    Located by Huntersville, MN.  Well this is a really fun place to visit with great scenery. Two times a year, the third weekends of May and September, people gather from all over Minnesota for the biggest trail riders party that I have ever been to.  We go both times every year and we have a great time. We ride for hours and the scenery here varies so much from one trail to the next.  The trails are wonderful and sandy and then there are also gravel roads to ride around.  Even with all those people there is not too much traffic since everyone is riding.  The drawback to Huntersville is there are no bathing facilities so it's either no showers or wash in a bucket for a few days.  Everyone pays to camp in a farmers field and they have a dance one night and food served for the weekend.  For those of you who want to go at a less busy time the Huntersville State Forest itself has a much nicer camping area with a small corral. Well on to the pictures I took at the Fall 2001 Huntersville Ride.

    Everyone is here to have a good time here is my friend Bruce riding a little spotted Appy named BS. for all the reasons you can imagine

    Everyone dressed warm for the weather that couldn't quite warm up for us.

    The bad weather did not discourage any campers. 

    Even those selling tack weren't discouraged much.

    Some campers had the sense to get in from out of the rain.

    While some just seem intent on standing in the rain.

    And this, well this is one of my favorite horses to see when I go somewhere, he is a half brother to my husbands horse and owned by a friend.  His name is Desperado and even with that name he is better mannered than most of the horses we see when we go places. 

    I hope you enjoyed my trip.   If riding is your thing I can recommend Huntersville.  If you have children though, I recommend that you camp sometime other than  this bi-annual party.
