Bemidji, Minnesota - First City on the Mississippi
Bemidji - Legend has it that the Giant lumberman Paul Bunyan roamed these North Woods. For 60 years, statues of Paul and his sidekick, Babe the Blue Ox, have greeted visitors on the lakeshore in Bemidji. This city of 11,000 serves the area with numerous motels, gift and handcraft shops, a fine golf course and a professional summer theater (The Paul Bunyan Playhouse). Bemidji bills itself as the first city on the Mississippi, and the headwaters for the Rive in nearby Itasca State Park.
Detroit Lakes - There are plenty of in town activities, as in amusement parks, miniature golf, waterslides and marina. One of the largest Country Music festivals in held in Detroit Lakes ( The We Fest), every August, and draws large crowds with top name stars
