A
picture says a lot about a place and this one really does say it all. We
spent a week here this September and had a great time. There are 75 miles
of trails in the park and if you want to travel them all you almost have to
trailer your horse around the park. The picture on the left is of the Kettle
River. Taken at one of the many scenic overlooks to the park.
If you love to take your horse camping and riding then this is a
place you can appreciate. We never ran into anyone else the whole time we
rode and we spent about 8 hours everyday in the saddle. It was really a
lot of fun.
The park is clean and quiet and the facilities were more than
horseback riders can usually expect. It was wonderful to stay for days and
get a shower everyday. In a building and warm. In fact my only
complaint about the showers is that they had a preset temperature and I couldn't
take one of the hot showers as is my habit. There was also a wonderful
eating area inside with picnic tables and fireplaces for cold days. They
also have snowmobile here in winter and I think this is one of the stop areas
for the snowmobilers.
Now I will take you on a picture tour of my trip, I hope you
enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them.
This is another picture taken at the Kettle River my husband
is doing his pushing over the tree impression. to see an enlarged
version of my pictures just click on the picture.
If you're willing to crawl down the side of that hill
you can get a picture of the Kettle river from this view.
This really neat bridge runs over a little bit of water
called Bear Creek.
This is were I was when I took the above picture. So this is
what Bear Creek looks like as seen from above.
This is the 100 foot or so fire tower that was once one of
many used to spot forest fires.
This is the view from the top of the fire tower, it was spectacular
and it only took us 3 hours to ride here from camp. That was at a walk
most of the way.
Back at camp. This is Sasha and Jinx. Sasha being the
once you can see more clearly. Panels like these make for a safe
secure camp that your horses will appreciate.
Here we all are on our ride to the fire tower. Jasen and
Jinx, then Lisa and Saban, and last Joanne and Callie. Sasha is under me
and I'm taking the picture.
Here's Lisa and Joanne on another trail. The downfall
of riding around me is you could end up in one of my web
pages.
This picture doesn't have a link. These deer wandered through camp every night. A doe and her
fawn.
This was a little green grass snake that was on the rode we
road down. He was even greener than he looks here.
And at the end of a long day it's nice to have a camp with
lots of light to go back to.
