Barnum, Minnesota
is host to the Carlton County Fair. Special features of their annual fair are figure 8 racing and my
favorite the Smash-Up Derby! Carnival Rides and other typical county fair attractions are also there. The Carlton
County Fair is usually held the 3rd week in August or thereabouts.
Cloquet, Minnesota
In the heart of the north woods, Cloquet is home to wood and paper mills where the St. Louis river runs through.
Another well known venue that Cloquet is proud to boast is its Hockey program. Cloquet is definately a Hockey town!
2 players from the 1999 Stanley Cup Champion Team the Dallas Stars played Hockey for the Cloquet High School Team.
Cloquet is host to the Annual Lumberjack Days Festival featuring Live Bands, activities for all, and an assortment
of vendors, sales, and sites to take in. Lumberjack Days is an event usually hosted on the 4th Saturday in July.

Moose Lake, MN
(AGATE CAPITOL OF THE WORLD) is located about 100 miles north of the Twin Cities Metro Area along
Interstate 35. It is a very convenient place to stop while taking a drive to Duluth or Cloquet. A very nice small
town atmosphere will always welcome visitors. Moose Lake is a major snowmobiling and biking hub as it sits along
the famous Willard Munger Trail. Moose Lake has a very nice swimming beach in their City Park and next to the park
is a campground. This is a very popular place during the 4th of July! Fireworks and a carnival draw visitors from
all over the Midwest. Moose Lake also hosts the annual "Moose Lake Agate Days Festival". There is a huge exibit of
agates and an agate stampede right down the middle of Downtown Moose Lake. Come and enjoy the festivities!

Agate Days in Moose Lake, Minnesota
is quite a unique event in this quiet small community. Agates were formed millions of years ago when
the pressure of the glaciers during the ice age compressed the earth's minerals. Lake Superior glaciers left rare
gems called agates. The best ones have a great translucent reddish color and many lines running throughout the stone,
there are also (another favorite) Lake Superior Eye Agate.
